CCTV News: Recently, the State Council issued the "Action Plan for Promoting Large scale Equipment Renewal and Consumer Goods Exchange", which clearly implements the action of exchanging old for new consumer goods. Starting from March 30th, Shanghai will implement a new round of green and intelligent home appliance consumption subsidy policies, providing subsidies for 16 categories of energy-efficient home appliances. Major supermarkets have also launched "one-stop" subsidies and services such as exchanging old for new and extending local renovations.
On March 30th, the reporter visited a home appliance store in Changning District, Shanghai and saw that consumers had arrived early in the morning to inquire about subsidies for purchasing home appliances. The reporter learned from the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce that the new round of green and intelligent home appliance consumption subsidy policies in Shanghai will be implemented from March 30 to December 31, 2024. For 16 categories of energy-efficient home appliances, consumers will enjoy a one-time reduction subsidy of 10% of the price. In addition to traditional household appliances such as air conditioners and refrigerators, eight categories including computers, printers, air purifiers, rice cookers, microwaves, induction cookers, electric fans, and water purifiers have been included in the Shanghai Green Intelligent Household Appliance Consumption Subsidy List. According to payment platform statistics, there were 12000 transactions of subsidized goods throughout the day on the 30th, with a sales revenue of nearly 100 million yuan.
March to April is the peak season for decoration, and purchasing new home appliances is an important part of consumer replacement. However, the safety and convenience of dismantling and replacing old and new appliances have always been a concern for consumers. This time, major merchants not only offered price discounts, but also launched upgrades in services such as "handling old machines and installing new ones in one trip" to make "exchanging old for new" more convenient.
Zhao Hongfu, the manager of a certain home appliance store in Shanghai, said, "In the past, customers used to have air conditioners in their homes, and when they came to our store to purchase them, they could only purchase air conditioners. This time, if customers had used color TVs or washing machines in their homes, they could also participate in buying air conditioners from our store. Not only can customers participate in energy-saving subsidies across different categories, but we can also achieve" one-stop "recycling and delivery of new machines."
Mr. Hua, a resident of Shanghai, said, "I think this cross genre approach is also a form that we haven't thought of before, and it would definitely be better for us." (CCTV website)
